8th Wyre Forest (St. John's) Cub Scout Pack

Wyre Forest District Scouts, Hereford & Worcester

Cubs are young people aged between 8 and 10½, who make up the second section of the Scouting family, between Beavers and Scouts.

During their time in the Pack, Cubs will get a chance to try lots of different activities like swimming, music, exploring, computing and collecting.

There are a range of badges available which Cubs can wear on their uniforms to show everyone how well they're doing.

Cubs also get to go on trips and days out, to places like the zoo, theme parks or a farm. Sometimes they will be able to go camping with the rest of the Pack and take part in all kinds of outdoor activities.

Structure and organisation

A Pack of Cubs is organised into Sixes, with each Six named after a colour, and a Sixer and a Seconder in charge.

Where are we?

The Cubs meet at:

Habberley Road
Habberley Playing Fields
DY11 6FA
Meeting Times
Mondays - 18:30 to 20:00

Due to our active programme, we often meet outside of these times as well.

Helping us at WF8 is not all about Knots.....

Volunteering at Scouts is really flexible – it’s up to you what you do and how often
you do it. Here are some of the ways you can get involved.
Work directly with young people
If you’re a people-person who loves sharing knowledge and getting stuck in, there
are loads of opportunities to use your skills within the sections. Can you make a
great cuppa, drive a minibus, organise an event, or inspire a nervous young person
to try something new? Working with other volunteers, you’ll plan and deliver
challenging, relevant and rewarding activities for young people. If you’re happy
to help once a week but don’t have much time for planning, you can download a
pre-planned programme of activities from our website. Or if you’re a super busy
person but still want to be involved, you can join a Parent’s Rota or take part as an
occasional helper.
Make things happen behind the scenes
If you’re an organisational wizard who likes to get stuff done (but doesn’t fancy
running activities), we’ve lots of behind the scene tasks too. Our Executive
Committees help groups with raising money, arranging events, getting publicity,
recruiting young people and adults, maintaining buildings, and general admin.
We also have practical things that we’d love your help with, like cutting the grass
or painting a meeting place. All of this doesn’t involve direct contact with our young
people but is just as important to us.
Run our teams
If you’re a motivator who can get the best out of people, then we need someone
like you to manage and support our volunteer teams. We want to make sure they’re
happy, that they understand their role, and that they have what they need to
continue being amazing leaders. On joining the team, we’ll provide you with great
training opportunities, including an accredited course – always a nice addition to
anyone’s CV.
No matter what role you pick, you’ll be fully trained and supported along the
way. We care deeply about our volunteers, and want your time in Scouts to be as
valuable for you as it is for our young people.

Our Group photo policy
13/07/2021 By Dawn Saunders
Beavers in Hall

With a new camping season restarting and return to face to face scouting, now is a good time to remind all Scouting members of our policy re taking pictures whilst on a Scout activity. Appropriate, storage and permissions are key areas to be aware of. If you are unsure please speak with your section leader or me.

Parents may also note the restrictions and advice. Any questions please contact me.
