WF8 Scout Troop
AGM Annual Report
July 2023
Over the last 12 months WF8 Scouts have completed a full programme of activities, completed some amazing challenges, and had loads of fun. The troop have had some changes this year, but with the support of leaders across the group and the GSL, we are in a positive position and looking forward the next years planning.
Leaders and Young Leaders
Over the last 12 months we have seen some transition with leaders. Currently we have 6 leaders across Tuesday and Wednesday sessions.
We have another potential leader, who has completed all required paperwork and training as is currently spending some time getting to know the group.
In response to the changes in leadership; all Section Assistants have agreed to step up to a full appointment within the Troop starting from September 2023.
1 leader is currently completing their Nights Away Permit training, which will allow the troop to be independent and fully functional for troop camps and nights away. This is supported by the GSL who is also completing the NA training.
We have 4 young leaders. 2 of which are currently being supported to complete their Chief Scout Awards
Programme
We have completed a full and varied programme of activities which the scouts have enjoyed.
This includes
-
hikes,
-
orienteering,
-
back wood cooking,
-
photography,
-
problem solving activities,
-
assault course
-
Scout stills including knots, tents and fire lighting.
Scouts have also done first aid and internet sessions. Scouts have completed natural fence building and created wildflower seed beds at Rhydd. The Scouts were proud of this and have continued to look after these areas.
Leaders have sought to diversify some sessions to give Scouts different experiences within the programme. A good example of this is the recent Hike and Photography session around Trimpley Reservoir. This was a standout session, and a format we wish to use for programme planning next year.
